This year we raised an incredible £3,261.50 for FaNs (Friends and Neighbours) Network, our Charity of the Year 2019.

The FaNs Network was created in 2013 to support older people living in residential care. The Essex charity supports older people in the community and care home residents in a number of ways, namely projects such as the incredibly successful Tendring Wishing Washing Line, Cooking with dementia at Tendring Care Homes such as Edensor and St Marks with support from ACE, Essex Fire & Rescue Service and Inclusion ventures in Jaywick. They also coordinate Walk & Talk with Tendring care homes with support from Star Club Clacton, Clacton Community Academy, Essex Social Care, Essex Fire & Rescue Service and the Imogen Sinclair centre for social justice.

The Wishing Washing Line has seen great success in Tendring working with a number of care homes engaging with the project, with residents wishes being granted by Tendring residents all year round with help and support from Tesco Clacton and Morrisons in Harwich.

The Care Home Bake Off events are very popular also, with a number of Clacton care homes competing against each other three or four times a year to be crowned champions. The inter-generational “TendringUP” project is gathering momentum also, with Tendring care homes emulating the same project in both Colchester & Maldon
